Apparently three blind mice were to blame for their 6-0 loss in the A-League decider, and John Kosmina was forced to resign after causing more embarrassment to the club than Carl Veart and Ross Aloisi put together.

Kossie ended up in Sydney, Aloisi ended up in Wellington, while his brother ended up at Gosford. As for Carl 'Smokin' Aces' Veart, we can only assume he continues to ply his trade in the Adelaide over-40s. And the A-League's big ticket item was claimed by Nicky Carle.

3. Aussies shine abroad

2007 was a year for Aussies making good on the world stage.

Mick Fanning and Stephanie Gilmore are Australia's new surfing world champions, while Cadel Evans is the world's top-ranked cyclist. Even though he came second in France.

London Fashion Week: Armand Basi / Nicole Farhi / House of Holland

You have heard about the bicycle built for two. But how about the dress built for two, or even three? There was not a hint of size zero as the Armand Basi collection took to the catwalk in the Banqueting Rooms at Whitehall, during London Fashion Week yesterday.

Plan to insure working poor stalls

John's spokeswoman Cora Scott said St. John's, along with other Missouri hospitals, will continue to work with lawmakers "to address the problem of the state's uninsured."

"Because of organizations like St. John's and our mission in the community, the good news is we take care of people regardless of their insurance status," Scott said.

"The problem is they end up receiving it in a fragmented way, in the most costly location — the hospital emergency department. That impacts the whole community because those costs are shifted to the whole community."

Through 2007, uninsured patient care in the emergency trauma center cost St. John's an extra $500,000 every month, St. John's administrators have said.

As lawmakers address ways to expand coverage to low-income Missourians, Scott said, "...we will also continue to collaborate with others in the community to work on solutions that expand access to care for uninsured and working poor people."

Under Blunt's initial Insure Missouri plan, coverage was expected to be available in March to working parents and caregivers with children who live at or below the poverty level — $20,650 for a family of four.

Woman involved in dragging case dies

He pleaded guilty and was sentenced in July 2007.

"Double jeopardy is attached," Harrington said. "It's ridiculous that under state law, what happened to Eva is the same punishment as stealing a $10 DVD."

That fact upsets Winter, the family friend.

"He's going to get out soon and be able to live his life," she said. "She won't. It's just frustrating."

10 Was graffiti sign to blame for child's tram accident?

A signpost that is high in the air (presumably to prevent it being vandalised ironically) was probably out of his field of vision. If he couldn't hear or see a tram approaching he can't have been paying attention to anything around him. Forgetting the child for the moment, my feelings go out to the driver, who is probably badly affected by this incident - more so if it turns out to be fatal. .
