| 100-year-old cinema closure fight
In Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan, 4,000 people have already signed a petition to prevent the Theatre Royal closing in April. Managers who have been told the lease has run out are hoping the discovery of an old Edwardian theatre on the site will help keep the cinema open. The cinema leaseholder Brian Bull has refused to comment. Wendy Marsh, a part-time duty manager at the cinema, said they were told just over two weeks ago that the cinema is to close its doors on 10 April. Ms Marsh said she understood two shops and four offices next to the cinema had also been told they would have to leave because their lease expired, although they would be able to stay for longer. She said they had been unable to get information on who actually owned the land on which the cinema stands, but she also believed there were plans to develop it.

Investigator combs files, book for clues
Mel Wiley was the chief of police in Hinckley Township outside of Cleveland until he vanished without a trace in July 1985. Hinckley's 1980 Toyota station wagon was found at Cleveland's Lakefront State Park on Lake Erie. Locked inside were Hinckley's wallet, police identification and his badge. He hasn't been seen since. He had told his girlfriend the day before he was going to buy a swim suit and go swimming. He never bought a suit, police said, and his friends told investigators he didn't like to swim. Wiley, 47, was an aspiring poet and, when he disappeared, his manuscript for a novel he was writing also vanished, according to published accounts. His literary bent prompted an investigator to check the ribbon in Wiley's typewriter. "Where I've gone," he typed, "is of no critical importance, and it's very doubtful that I'll ever return .
Players want more noonball
Noon basketball is enjoying a revitalization at the Whitney Recreation Center in St. Cloud. The recreational basketball games are co-ed opportunities for people to play basketball games during their lunch hours. Although noonball — as members call it — has been offered by the city for decades, organizers said they had seen a sharp decrease in players attending the three-times-a-week activity. "Over the past year or so, the numbers have dropped off to literally zero," said Todd Cariveau, a regular noonball player who has spearheaded the effort to bring the activity back to life. The cost and some players' overly competitive nature led to the decline, said Cariveau and John Anderson, recreation supervisor for the city's Recreation Department.

Science TSA Wants Your Feedback via Official Blog
Few will argue that security at air ports can be difficult and taxing during the best of times. All the added security became commonplace around the country since the terrorist attacks in 2001. In an attempt to give travelers a place to voice concerns and ask questions the TSA set up a blog to allow its employees to interact with air travelers. In one of the first posts TSA Administrator Kip Hawley explained the goal of the blog as: Our ambition is to provide here a forum for a lively, open discussion of TSA issues. While I and senior leadership of TSA will participate in the discussion, we are turning the keyboard over to several hosts who represent what's best about TSA (its people). Our hosts aren't responsible for TSA's policies, nor will they have to defend them -- their job is to engage with you straight-up and take it from there.
