Iowa City, Ia. - On an ordinary day in 1970, Sue Sheehy was working at Henry's, a burger joint across from the Old Capitol, when a customer stopped in and caught her eye.
"The boss wasn't around, so I was trying to impress him," she recalled. "I was carrying a tray of grease - very regally, I thought - when he asked me to be in his play."
Then a pause.
"I thought he was stark raving mad."
The customer, as it turned out, was a quiet man named Robert Wilson. .
RAGBRAI liability issue still worries county officials
County officials representing towns along this summer's RAGBRAI route are still worried about liability issues involving bicycle riders, but they hope the Iowa Legislature will address the problem this year.
This summer's seven-day bicycle tour doesn't pass through Crawford County, where the county's board of supervisors passed a resolution in October banning RAGBRAI or "any event of like kind and nature." .

Mrs. Biesanz never stopped writing, and a family member joked last night that she said she even had written her husband's dissertation. Her latest work, "Un año con Carmen. A Year with Carmen," is a series of stories in Spanish and English.
It came out last year and is based on work she did with Carmen Naranjo, a well-known Costa Rican author. This was her 12th book.
Others included an autobiography of her childhood in Minnesota, "Helmi Mavis: A Finnish-American Childhood," and several academic books on sociology that still are used at U.S. universities.
Mr. and Mrs. Biesanz moved here for good in 1971.
In addition to Richard, she is survived by a son, Barry, and a daughter, Katja.
