| No bikes on 183-A
I wrote a column on Monday about a guy, Chuck Thomas, who commutes to work on the Texas 45 North tollway. On his bicycle. I said he could do so because the Texas Transportation Commission has not voted to make biking illegal on its three toll roads in the Austin area. The board of the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, however, did vote about a year ago to make biking illegal on its single toll road, 183-A. That road, if you don't know, connects at its southern end to Texas 45 North and then goes for 4.5 miles north to RM 1431. There are signs on its entrances indicating no bikes are allowed. One caveat: The mobility authority built another 7.1 miles of two-lane frontage roads from RM 1431 to north of Leander, where the lanes merge with the old U.S.

Tribute: Theresa B. Kearney
Childhood: Theresa Kearney was orphaned at age 9 and went to live with her sisters and other family. She married Clarence Harold Kearney and became the mother of seven boys and five girls. The couple was married for 65 years and lived in the same house in Independence for more than 50. Chef for 12-plus: Kearney spent most of her life as a homemaker. The family could not fit at one table, yet she welcomed neighbors, her own siblings and children's friends to come over for home-cooked meals. She put thought into smaller meals throughout the day. "She got out plates and silverware and made it a festive, classy occasion," oldest child Betty Harralson Unrein said. Saint of the little things: In the Catholic tradition, St. Theresa is known as the patron saint of the little ways and of great love.
Justice done at Celtic Park
It is difficult to recall the visitors creating a clear-cut chance."I thought we played really well and to make that number of chances was more than I could expect," said Celtic manager Gordon Strachan. "Artur Boruc could have been sitting with me."He was forced to reshuffle his side early when both Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and Andreas Hinkel retired hurt. In the former's case it was because of a gaping head wound including a burst blood vessel received in an accidental clash with Kilmarnock centre-back Simon Ford's "head of steel", as his manager Jim Jefferies termed it. The Dutchman had five stitches inserted and was refused permission to return by the club doctor because of the worrying amount of blood he had lost. The German right-back came off with a thigh strain but had been suffering from the ubiquitous winter sickness virus. With Derek Riordan on for Hinkel, Paul Hartley showed his versatility by switching to right back from left midfield, while Chris Killen replaced Vennegoor of Hesselink up front.
March 2007
Monday Massachusetts State Fire Marshall Stephen Coan together with Rochester Fire Chief Scott Ashworth told CWN how they believed the fire started and issued a warning for people throwing out trash. Coan told CWN, "The fire was caused by an explosion in one of the shredders." He added, "Investigators have ruled out any intentional act." Coan added, "Apparently someone inappropriately threw away an item such as a small propane or butane tank. These pressurized cylinders cannot be sent to an incinerator and it usually says so right on the container." He added, "Plant staff has pulled many similar inappropriate items from the trash in the past such as LP-gas grill cylinders, preventing many similar incidents. I would ask citizens across the Commonwealth to dispose of this kind of refuse safely and properly." Hip-Hop Rumors: Jay-Z As Frank Lucas? Rockers Got Jokes...
This was the frech duo that bested Kanye last year for best video. Anyway, they won again. They were cracking jokes, seemingly expecting Ye to show up. I heard they said, “Kanye, where are you?" and other comments of that nature. Justice's new song beat ‘Ye's “Stronger." On top of that, I heard my girl Kelly Rowland said a lil' slickness about Kanye. From what I understand, she was the presenter of the award and she joked, “This is for best video…not most expensive one. You know I'm talking to you Kanye!" WOW! I thought Kelly was nicer than that! DA BRAT UPDATE Here is her mug shot: The latest on Da Brat is that she got charged with aggravated assault.
Hit-run cyclist was new to Sydney
THE cyclist killed in yesterday's hit-run crash in Punchbowl has been revealed as an Egyptian national who only arrived in Sydney recently. Police would not confirm the name but The Daily Telegraph Online understands the rider was Mina Ayad Wahba. The 30-year-old is understood to be a student. A group of friends left a bouquet of flowers at the scene this morning to mark his death. Police have confirmed they are still hunting the driver of a medium to large sized truck believed to have killed the cyclist in a crash on Wattle St at 7.45am yesterday. Acting Senior Sergeant John Kelly said the injuries were "quite horrific''. The impact appeared to have been so great that Mr Wahba's helmet was ripped from his head.
Rice Testifies Before the House Judiciary Committee on Mideast Policy
I will say that these are smuggling routes that have been there for many, many years. And we know that it is not easy to cut them off. But I was very clear with the Egyptians that what ever the challenges and the difficulties of cutting off smuggling routes, they had to do more and they had to do more urgently. LANTOS: Madam Secretary, let me turn to the upcoming Annapolis conference. I am very supportive of the idea of the conference. And I certainly want the conference to succeed to the maximum possible extent. But there are very thoughtful and serious people who are raising questions about the timing of this conference. Both sides are weak in some ways, not even in control of the area they presumably are speaking for. Abu Mazen has tenuous control of the West Bank, no control of Gaza.
Looe Key: Stop and smell the conch at Mile Marker 36
Weve all done it. Hightail it over the Seven-Mile Bridge enroute to Key West, only to encounter that pesky speed trap on Big Pine Key. What a slow and boring stretch of road, you tell yourself as you creep through town at 25 mph. Not only that, but you never have seen those miniature deer they keep warning you to avoid. Well, my friends, you aint seen nothin'. Big Pine is the gateway to the other coral reef -- Looe Key. Dive, snorkel and tour boats sail regularly from Big Pine and nearby Bahia Honda State Park. Accommodations are available, though not plentiful. Ask the locals. We stopped at a restaurant and asked the bartender, and she pointed us to a delightful room on the ground floor of a private home on a peaceful canal. After a day of snorkeling in this underwater wonderland, or lying on the beautiful beaches of Bahia Honda, slip off U.S.
